Silbury Hill Silbury Hill [Silbury Hill] BrE NAmE a ↑prehistoric ↑mound (= raised mass of earth) near ↑Avebury in south-west England, built before 2000 BC. It is the largest of these ↑mounds in Europe, and, unlike most of the others, has nobody buried in it. Nobody knows what it was built for.
