Scientific American [Scientific American] BrE NAmE
a US magazine published each month since 1845 about scientific research and discoveries. The articles are written for the non-specialist reader but are more technical than those in a general magazine. The company owning the magazine also has a television series on ↑PBS, called Scientific American Frontiers which is also available on the Internet. It began in 1990 and is presented by the actor Alan Alda.
